A few words about the 20 km race history

The first release of the 20 km race took place on July 27th, 1980 between Trebeurden and Perros-Guirec.

From the very beginning, the race became a very popular one and about 500 roadrunners participated in the 20 km and the 5 km runs. Also, high-ranking runners took part in the early race releases. Thus, the best french specialists on marathon, 10 km, cross-country, etc, have participated all through the 1980’s (and later on…). Then, the race was open to international competitors, including runners coming from many countries of Europe and Africa.

So, for more than 35 years, the organization team have fully succeeded in mixing within the same event very high-level athletes and pure “amateur” joggers, including lots of tourists enjoying the many beautiful sceneries spread over this famous area in Brittany. In 2011, more than 1700 runners had succeeded in finishing the races.

According to dedicated sports newspapers and most of the champions who have participated earlier, the “20 km de la Côte de Granit Rose” race is considered as one of the most beautiful road races in France. Why not joining us for the next release by next July ?
